About us
Centre for Skills and Learning (CSL) is a secondary-aged Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in Pontllanfraith, serving learners across Caerphilly County Borough. We provide specialist educational provision for young people whose social, emotional and behavioural needs may make it difficult for them to thrive in a mainstream school environment.
At CSL, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed. Through small class sizes, strong relationships and a nurturing, trauma-informed approach, we create a safe and supportive learning environment where learners can rebuild confidence, develop resilience and achieve their potential.
Our dedicated staff team works collaboratively to meet the individual needs of every learner, placing wellbeing, inclusion and personal growth at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that positive relationships are the foundation for successful learning and are committed to helping young people feel valued, respected and empowered.
Our values
At CSL, inclusion is more than a principle – it is the foundation of our work. We celebrate individual strengths, encourage learner voice and support young people to become confident, capable and ambitious individuals who are ready to embrace their future.
We value the support and partnership of parents, carers and external agencies, recognising that working together is key to achieving the best outcomes for our learners. Whether a learner’s journey leads to successful reintegration into mainstream education or progression onto their next destination, our aim is always to provide the guidance, support and opportunities needed for them to thrive.
